Shimano WH-RS171-CL 28" wheelset - wider and lighter

The Shimano WH-RS171-CL 700c wheelset has a wider rim profile than its WH-RS170 predecessor, but is a few grams lighter. The inner dimension is now 19 mm, which makes the wheels interesting for off-road use. Of course, the proven Shimano quality technologies have been retained.

Cup and Cone Bearings
Angular contact bearings of the cup and cone type offer greater strength than sealed cartridge industrial bearings due their ability to displace lateral and vertical loads more effectively for super smooth rotation and longer durability. Angular contact bearings also allow easier maintenance, adjustability and serviceability.

E-Thru
The tool-less type thru-axle skewer system optimizes rigidity and weight balance and enables easy operation with a reliable internal cam mechanism. High rigidity is secured while keeping the optimum weight balance. The E-Thru axle hub system minimizes the distortion of suspension while maintaining lightweight for riding around sharp corners at high speed.
